Developing edutainment and life-skills training material on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Gender-Based Violence for trainers at youth centres (UNFPA Egypt, 2018)

From July to September 2018, C4D Support gathered together a team of specialist consultants in Egypt in order to support a UNFPA Egypt project focused on developing edutainment and life-skills training material on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for trainers at youth centres.

The project consisted of three different phases; first was the research phase which was the initial step in the development of a manual and was designed to assess the needs of the population, the organizations, and the youth trainers working in SRH and GBV. This was then followed by the second and third phases — curriculum development, and the training of trainers phase.

Approach: A holistic approach to the manual was developed, putting young people health and safety at the centre, while introducing SRH and GBV.

Outcomes: At the end of the three months, a manual on creating safe spaces for young people about SRH and GBV was completed, in addition to training 96 trainers from all over Egypt on how to use the manual. These trainers are set to conduct more training with the youth centres in Egypt creating awareness about SRH and GBV related topics that are highly important to the Egyptian population as set forward in the national Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS): Egypt Vision 2030 which aims for more inclusive development.
